New Shows, New Album

Finally, summer-like weather is upon us in Chicago. I’m proud to announce I’ll be headlining Sleeping Village on June 21st. Sleeping Village is Chicago’s newest venue and boasts a state-of-the-art sound system and beer selection! I can’t wait to share the music me and my band have been refining over the past year in the highest possible fidelity. The Austin-based Kraken Quartet and Brooklyn’s own Run Child Run will open the night, so you won’t want to pass this one up.

I am also excited to officially announce that my new album Calculated Discomfort is almost complete. This past fall I was feeling overwhelmed by the speed and intensity of modern technology, so I decided to make a record the old fashioned way: everyone playing in the same room all at once, without overdubs. Operating under the principle that stepping just the right amount outside one’s comfort zone will lead to personal growth and creative vitality, I brought a cast of my favorite collaborators across jazz, metal and hip hop together. We recorded over 6 hours of structured improvisations and I’ve edited it down to album length. You will be able to take this wild sonic journey when Calculated Discomfort drops August 17th.

Official release party details will be announced shortly, but for the time being you can follow me on Spotify to make sure you don’t miss any of my new music.
